Training terrains

Table below is a summary of training terrains of JWOC 2018. A detailed description of each terrain and map samples can be found afterwards.

 

Terrain descriptions:

Ágasegyháza-Fülöpháza

Mixture of good runability forests, juniper bushes with various runability and visibility, open grassy fie lds and scattered trees and bushes. Varied landscape (hills and depression variety). "Ágasegyháza" will be the Model Event terrain for all JWOC forest races because it has lots of similar parts for each one. This terrain is available from October 2017, after Kalocsa Cup 2017.

 

Bócsa

Mixture of good runability forests and juniper bushes with various runability and visibility with labyrinth-like orienteering, with lots of route choices. This terrain is in the direct neighbourhood of the JWOC 2018 middle distance terrain.

 

Bodoglár

Mixture of good runability forests, open grassy fields and scattered trees and bushes. Varied landscape (hills and depression variety). Many possible route choices between controls. This terrain is available from the middle of October 2017, after the Hungarian Long Distance Championship 2017 (from the 2nd official JWOC training camp).

 

Izsák

Varied landscape and similarities between features requires high technique of orienteering. Mixture of good runability forests, open grassy fields with sand dunes and scattered trees and bushes.

 

Kaskantyú

“Orienteering until the control”. Lots of juniper bushes with various runability and visibility, labyrinth-like orienteering, with lots of route choices. This terrain is in the direct neighbourhood of the JWOC 2018 middle distance terrain.

 

Pirtó

Mixture of good runability forests, open grassy fields and scattered trees and bushes. Varied landscape (hills and depression variety). Many possible route choices between controls. This terrain is in the direct neighbourhood of the JWOC 2018 long distance terrain.

 

Zsana

Varied landscape and similarities between features requires high technique of orienteering. Mixture of good runability forests, open grassy fields with sand dunes and scattered trees and bushes.

 

Imrehegy-Kakashegy

Mixture of good runability forests, open grassy fields with sand dunes and scattered trees and bushes. Varied landscape and similarities between features requires high technique of orienteering. This terrain is available from April 2018, after the Szeged Cup WRE event (from the 3th official JWOC training camp).

 

Kecskemét

Sprint terrain at a suburban residential area of Kecskemét with spacious parks with many objects.

 

Szeged

Sprint terrain in the downtown of Szeged. Very similar for the downtown of Kecskemét. Spacious parks with many objects, narrow back-alleys, small labyrinth-like streets, and small inner courts inside the blocks, connections between streets.
